Freedom

Glorious & Free

July, the halfway mark in the year and I was wondering what aspect of the word freedom to focus on this month. Then I realized, as we celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday, that living here means I have always been blessed with one of life’s greatest freedoms.

We emigrated from my birthplace of London England, when I was 18 months old and oh how very grateful I am to live in this beautiful, abundant and peaceful country.

Along with many other givens, never have I had to worry about the threat of war, lack of healthcare, quality of education, or access to clean water, nor worry that being female would limit my life choices in any way. I have also found that wherever I have travelled, we Canadians are well liked and respected in the global community.

Recently, I read that we were named the second best country in the world to live in, coming in just behind Switzerland.

The funny thing is, that for most of my life, I never saw this as freedom. It most definitely is and will never again be taken for granted, because as our national anthem says, we are ‘glorious and free’!

Happy 150th Birthday Canada…although, I don’t think you look a day over 139! 😉🇨🇦
