And she was… oh so courageous, humorous and full of grace.
Some say death is the ultimate freedom, but one thing I know for sure is that my friend Dale is now free from pain.
Although I only knew Dale a few years, her impact was great and being the first friend I’ve ever lost, it hit me hard.
Just three short years ago Dale was a force to be reckoned with. She was climbing the Grouse Grind in preparation for her travels on the Camino trail, she was a brilliant computer geek, played the stock market and had a successful beauty business, with a sales team. She was my age, but effortlessly painted her two-story home single-handedly and even built new brick planter boxes for it. She was a Reiki healer, fashionista, Tantra teacher, and foodie, who would fly to Paris for amazing meals with her lover. (Like I said a force to be reckoned with!)
The quality of her relationships was what mattered most to Dale, who was a loving and beloved mother of three, grandmother of six, daughter, sister and friend to many.
Always dressed to the nines, she was a beauty who exuded confidence, positivity, and elegance and I was a little bit in awe and maybe even a bit envious of her.
My awe remains, my envy not, as Dale’s life journey is over now, handled as ever in her own way and on her own terms.
We’ll all have to wait and see if death is the ultimate freedom, which for me, seems to make the need for freedom while I’m still alive all the more important.
Rest peaceful & free lovely lady.
