The freedom to travel, explore and have adventures… something many of us hope for and gratefully it is not entirely unknown to me. I’m not talking about the ‘bungee jumping, sky diving, swimming with great white sharks’ kind of adventures today, but rather the type of lifelong, love of ‘experiencing new places, meeting new people and trying new things’ adventures. The kind that change you inside and allow you to grow.
Next week I’m traveling to Phoenix, Arizona and then on to Sedona. Other than knowing our destinations, I only have one fingers crossed expectation for this trip and then the rest of it may unfold in as many magical moments as choose to come my way.
My expectation actually ties into last month’s blog about
creativity. So, with that in mind, I am hefting along my heavy camera bag and lenses, in anticipation of ‘capturing’ the wild horse herds at Coon Bluff, on the Salt River!
In some ways I suppose these horses are the ultimate representation of freedom for me, although sadly their days may be numbered, due to changes in government policy.
These are not the perfectly groomed, shiny coated domestic animals we know. They will have tangled manes and bear scars garnered from the struggle of daily survival, in the wild western landscape, but they will be an amazing force of strength and endurance. A sight to behold, that may sadly become only a memory; a side note in history.
If I am lucky enough to capture the freedom that these magnificent creatures represent, I know it will somehow change me and be a reminder for me, to continue my own quest to be truly free.

Hope you’ll post about your trip and share your photos!
